Description

Overview

Les Coteaux du Levant 2025 from Domaine de la Butte embodies the natural elegance of Bourgueil wines. Organically grown, this Loire Valley red reveals all the finesse of cabernet franc cultivated on the appellation's clay-limestone terroir. A wine from passionate growers who respect the expression of fruit and place.

Estate & Appellation

Domaine de la Butte is a benchmark estate in the Bourgueil appellation, located on the right bank of the Loire in Indre-et-Loire. Farmed organically and biodynamically, the domaine works its parcels with meticulous care to produce authentic wines. The Bourgueil AOC, established in 1937, spans varied soils where cabernet franc expresses itself with character and distinction.

Viticulture & Vinification

Domaine de la Butte's vines are cultivated according to organic principles, without synthetic herbicides or pesticides. The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. Vinification favours indigenous yeasts and gentle extraction to preserve fruit purity and varietal typicity. Élevage takes place in vats or foudres, respecting the wine's natural character.

Tasting Note

The wine displays an attractive ruby colour with violet highlights, reflecting the youth of the vintage. The appealing nose reveals fresh red fruit aromas of raspberry and cherry, accompanied by delicate floral notes. On the palate, the attack is bright and moreish, carried by the lovely freshness characteristic of Loire cabernet franc. The tannins are present but silky, offering balanced structure. The finish is persistent with pleasing vivacity.

Food Pairing

This Bourgueil is an ideal match for fine charcuterie, terrines and rillettes de Tours. It pairs beautifully with grilled meats, duck breast, roast chicken or slow-cooked dishes such as bœuf bourguignon. Local goat's cheeses, such as Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine, also make a harmonious regional pairing.

Serving

Serve this wine at 14–16°C to appreciate all its aromatic nuances. Opening an hour before serving will allow the wine to express itself fully. This vintage can be enjoyed in its youth for its vibrant fruit or cellared for a few years.
