Description

Overview

The Cairanne Vieille Vignes Rouge 2024 from Domaine Berthet Rayne embodies the excellence of southern Rhône Valley wines. Produced from old vine parcels, this red wine offers concentration, complexity and a beautiful expression of the Cairanne terroir, an appellation renowned for the quality of its crus.

Estate & Appellation

Domaine Berthet Rayne is a family-owned property based in Cairanne, in the Vaucluse. The Cairanne appellation, recognised as a Cru des Côtes du Rhône, benefits from an exceptional terroir of clay-limestone soils and rounded pebbles. The Mediterranean climate and the mistral wind promote optimal ripening of the grapes and the production of concentrated, elegant wines.

Viticulture & Winemaking

The grapes are sourced from old vines cultivated with care and respect, yielding controlled yields and fruit of exceptional quality. Traditional winemaking focuses on extracting fine tannins whilst preserving the fruit aromas. Maturation brings structure and complexity to the wine whilst respecting the expression of the fruit.

Tasting Notes

The colour is deep, an intense red with violet hints. The nose reveals generous aromas of ripe black fruits, sweet spices and garrigue, with notes of liquorice and pepper. On the palate, the wine is powerful and fleshy, carried by silky tannins and fine freshness. The finish is long and persistent, marked by fruity and spicy notes.

Food Pairing

This Cairanne Vieille Vignes pairs beautifully with grilled red meats, roast leg of lamb with herbs, côte de bœuf, wild boar stew or rich sauced dishes. It also matches very well with mature cheeses such as sheep's tome or aged Cantal.

Serving

Serve this wine at a temperature of 16 to 18°C. We recommend opening it an hour before serving or decanting to allow it to express itself fully. This wine can be enjoyed now or cellared for a few years.
